Horseracing highlights from this past weekend – who to keep an eye on and some impressive wins…
The most outstanding performance of the weekend came in the Lebelo Sprint which produced an exciting finish. Cheek pieces helped blitzer Jade Bay (speed score 109) fight off a posse of challengers. She's A Stunner (s/s 107), Mr Whatever (s/s 107) and Miss October (s/s 107) raced commendably in defeat.

Down in Cape Town, heavily backed Gold Academy (s/s 99) provided a change of fortune for the Yogas Govender yard when placing first in a competitive Conditions race and recording the day's highest speed figure.
Top rating on Sunday at Clairwood went to Devon Gold (s/s 99) who just piped Cinema Scope (s/s 98). Recent maiden victor Crescendo (s/s 95) caught the eye making his handicap debut - this youngster shows potential. The game Var filly Caviar (s/s 95) was not troubled by top weight placing first in her fourth race from just twelve outings, whilst Red Label's (s/s 95) win in the following contest suggests more successes for the Drier trained runner.
