Overview

History
The concept was formulated in 1998, and after business plan creation in 1999, bookmakers were polled in South Africa to determine their willingness to participate. Having had a resounding YES from the bookmaking community; software design and development was started in 2000. The system received South African Standards Authority approval in 2001, and shortly thereafter in July 2001, Interbet's revolutionary bookmaker-to-bookmaker trading system began operation.

Within months of its launch the vast majority of South African bookmakers were already making use of the Interbet system for all their bookmaker-to-bookmaker trade.

In July 2006 Interbet invited the public to bet on a sport only website, called Legendsbet. This website specifically excluded horseracing. Now, after great local and International demand, Interbet has finally decided to include horseracing to its offering.
